Sharp Introduces Two New 17-Inch Desktop
LCD Models
Sharp Systems of America, a division of
Sharp Electronics Corporation, today announced two new additions to its LCD monitor
line-up: the LL-T17D4 and the LL-171A. The full-featured 17-inch LCD monitors deliver
professional performance at competitive prices, and provide users with cost flexibility
for their features. The LL-T17D4 is a full-featured professional monitor, while the
LL-171A brings a stylish new design to Sharp's monitor family.
"Sharp is pleased to be able to provide flexible lines of professional quality
monitors," said Terry Hanly, product marketing manager for Sharp Systems of America.
"These two new LCD monitors provide both professional and home users with the options
that they need in order to best suit their respective needs."
LL-T17D4
Built for professional use, the Sharp
LL-T17D4 features a swing top design for height and tilt adjustment for ergonomic comfort
and enhanced productivity. Equipped with built-in stereo speakers, and compatible with
both analog and digital video inputs, the LL-T17D4 is a high-resolution 17-inch SXGA
(1,280 x 1,024) monitor with a 1.3 Megapixel display resolution that responds to a wide
range of needs. With its 250-nit brightness and 430:1 contrast ratio, the price
performance of this monitor is exceptional. The Sharp LL-T17D4 features an array of
built-in display modes for flexible usage. Included in these modes are the "Office
mode" for a lower brightness display, which reduces power consumption, a "Vivid
mode" for photo-realistic imaging, and a "Standard mode" for displaying
colors from the original sRGB standard of liquid crystal panels.
A distinguishing feature of the Sharp
LL-T17D4 is the ability to accept input from 2 different computers (using additional
connection cables, sold separately). In addition to an analog mini D-sub 15-pin connector
for analog signal input, the LL-T17D4 is equipped with a DVI-I connector for handling
digital or analog signals. The digital video input capability enhances the overall image
quality for demanding professional users. The monitor can be shared by two PCs with analog
outputs, or by one each with digital and analog outputs.
The Sharp LL-T17D4 features a color
management function compatible with the sRGB international standard for color
reproduction. By performing color conversions with "ICC profile" that adjust to
liquid crystal characteristics, the LL-T17D4 displays pictures with natural tones, and
color matching is achieved with sRGB-compatible peripheral equipment.
The LL-T17D4 is available in white or
black and features a long life (approximately 50,000 hours) backlight. Available
immediately, the LL-T17D4 has an estimated street price of $499.
LL-171A
The stylish Sharp LL-171A is a
professional-class high-resolution 17-inch SXGA (1,280 x 1,024) monitor with a contrast
ratio of 430:1, built-in dual speakers and built-in AC adapter. The display is equipped
with a high-performance TFT LCD that achieves a wide viewing angle of 170-degrees
horizontally and 150-degrees vertically. The unit's 1.3 Megapixel display resolution
provides users with a high-resolution monitor experience, and with a high brightness of
250 nits and a 20ms response rate, the Sharp LL-171A provides users with professional
performance at a retail price.
The unit comes equipped with settings
that can be easily switched to meet the users viewing preferences. The "Office
mode" lowers the brightness of the unit while reducing power consumption to 25 watts.
The "Vivid mode" enables optimal viewing for photo-realistic images, and the
"Standard mode" for displaying colors from the original sRGB standard of liquid
crystal panels.

The LL-171A also features an

signal. This can be done by simply selecting "Adjustment-auto" in the menu
