KENWOOD UNVEILS FIRST DEDICATED HOME
TUNER FOR SIRIUS® SATELLITE RADIO

Sleek-Styled Component Plays 100 Streams
Of Sirius Music and Entertainment Through Any Home Audio System
INDIANAPOLIS (September 3, 2003)
Kenwood, the first consumer electronics company to bring SIRIUS® (Nasdaq:
SIRI) digital satellite radio to the automotive aftermarket, introduces the first
dedicated home tuner for SIRIUS radio here today at the Custom Electronic Design &
Installation Association Expo. The new Kenwood DT-7000S SIRIUS Home Tuner DTS-7000,
styled in the latest fashion of sleek high tech design, allows listeners to play
SIRIUSs 100 streams of digital entertainment over any home audio system. Equipped
with cool new features, such as its ability to display and store the name of songs and
artists, the tuner delivers a huge variety of music available only with digital satellite
radio.
"Once again Kenwood is first to
market with new digital home audio technology, offering consumers more choice and more
quality in what they listen to," said Sally House, Kenwoods director of
marketing. "Offering 60 streams of 100% commercial-free music, the Kenwood DT-7000S
SIRIUS home tuner is just the product to bring back all the joy people used to get from
listening show people how enjoyable it can be to listen to radio at home."
Incorporating convenient features such as
"Stream Look Ahead," "Song Title and Artist Memory/Recall," and
customized steam naming, the new SIRIUS home tuner can do what ordinary radios cant.
Stream Look Ahead allows a listener to use the tuner display to see what is playing on
another stream while continuing to listen to the current selection. The Memory/Recall
function allows listeners to store the title and artist of the song being played for
recall later. The tuner stores and recalls up to 24 title/artist entries. Another cool
feature allows listeners to group a set streams under a name they choose, such as
"Dad," "Jazz" or "Mary," so that the listener can quickly
select a set of favorite streams using their personalized name.
Additional features found on the new
Kenwood DT-7000SDTS-7000 tuner include a large, bright, four-line scrolling dot matrix
display that shows the satellite channel stream number and name, artist name, song title
and program category. The tuner is controlled using a side mounted convenient jog dial.
Users can search for music by genre or channel type as well as by artist name or specific
song title. Additional features include a built-in guide, similar to a cable TV channel
guide, that shows what is playing on other channelsstreams, and parental lock with
password protection. A full-function remote control is also included.
The DT-7000S connects to any just about
any home audio receiver or, pre-amp, or power amplifier via gold-plated RCA jacks or
digital TOS-Link outputs. To facilitate installation with advanced home audio control
systems, Kenwood has equipped the DT-7000S DTS-7000 tuner with a RS-232C portconnecto.
